Day in Review:

We began class by reviewing the homework.  Following the review we continued to develop reading strategies.  Students were given a section of the textbook to read and identify key facts from the reading.  Anything students were unable to complete was assigned as homework.


Assignments and Resources:

Individually students were given a copy of a 15 Facts worksheet.  The worksheet instructed students to read pages 54-61.  While reading students are to identify 15 facts from the text and write those facts (in complete sentences) in the left column of the worksheet. In the right column students are to interpret the facts by identifying their response to the fact, link it to their own lives in some way, or link it to prior knowledge.  The goal is to try and connect new information to existing information, ideas, or to think about this information and react to it in a thoughtful manner.
